Adventure in ERland UPDATED
Last night found us on our way to the Emergency Room. Around 1:00 I decided to go to bed and after I laid down I just started coughing like crazy…when I went to the bathroom I noticed that I was coughing up blood, and got scared…After waking up mom we decided it was a good idea to go to the Emergency Room…
I have to say my experience with every ER staff was amazing! They were caring, concerned, proactive, and funny in the process…
First I got a huge dose of steroids via this IV…
Then they prepped me for a CT scan of the neck and chest…The chest CT scan required an IV in my arm so this happened…
it took two nurses and one doctor FIVE tries to get it in…and I have to say they hurt…all five of them! But I was happy to know I’m going to find something out….for some reason the needles wouldn’t go in far enough…
After the CT scans there was A LOT of waiting...the scans were sent to Australia to be read because it was daytime there…
*
While we were waiting the ER doctor Dr. Vaughn, called and spoke to Dr. Breckler (the doctor I will be seeing for the first time tomorrow morning) and the oncologist Dr. Mandel (whom he didn’t get but he did talk to his secretary who is going to call me today or tomorrow morning) to let them know what was going on and that he felt it was a huge priority that I be seen like yesterday…he didn't say it was cancer and we don't know for sure yet but he said it does look like that is what could be going on...I feel like if I can come to terms that it is cancer it is better because then if we find out it isn't cancer I will be relieved (does that make sense?)
*
Dr. Vaughn said at this point things are beyond Dr. Moss and that I should not get the surgery to remove the lymph node on Tuesday…he said there are a lot of lymph nodes in my chest (which is probably pressing on things) as well as my neck and that at this point we really need to be on top of this…He said if he were me he would be angry, and knocking down doors because it is ridiculous that I have been waiting this long with these kind of symptoms for answers…
*
I can’t tell you how good it felt to be taken seriously, I’ve known (in my bones) for a while now this is serious and was trying not to be demanding but in the end the need to breathe, swallow, and NOT cough up blood is proving to be more important than being patient April.
*
Right now I am pretty awake but I think that is the huge dose of steroids they gave me, because when I was on them before I would feel really jittery…so I am waiting to get tired and can’t wait to just sleep for a while, because anytime I tried to lay down at the ER I would start coughing and spitting up more blood. I’m good if I am just sitting but when I try to do most anything I get hot and start coughing…
*
I left the ER with 5 prescriptions…for pain, steroids, for coughing, an inhaler, and another one I can’t remember right now…we left around 7:30 a.m. then had to get the prescriptions filled and then a much deserved treat of a sausage biscuit and apple juice from McDonald's we got home around 8:30 a.m.
*
So there is the update…thank you to all who love me and care about what is going on…life has been scary for a bit and it means a lot to know I am prayed for and loved…
*
I leave you with one last picture of my beautiful mama…she had taken an ambien before bed and was tired and had to sit in what I think looked like an uncomfortable chair all night…She has been great the past few months and is trying to be positive for and with me…she has kind of been nicer (not that she is ever MEAN) if you know what I mean…I love her and am lucky she is my MOM. (p.s. she will NOT be ok I put this picture up so don’t tell her k? )
update at 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning...the oncologist's secretary called and said that they wanted to see me late morning or early afternoon tomorrow...she said that she wanted me to be prepared that the doctor said he might just go ahead and admit me to the hospital tomorrow and start treatment...she said that he wasn't SURE that was what he was going to do but that I should know that it might happen...WOW! I'm not sure how I'm feeling right now...I was just starting to wind down when she called...but I am impressed and grateful they called me on a SUNDAY MORNING...I am so glad we went to the ER last night...

Last Weeks Yardsale Goodies
*
This is my favorite…a 50’s console type table/cabinet…for $5.00 I wanted it the second we pulled up but told myself it was going to be more than I wanted to spend. When I saw that it was $5.00 my heart started beating faster and I claimed it as my own…doesn’t it look great!
because of this 50’s treasure I was able to get rid of 5 plastic drawers and two plastic bin things from my craft area and consolidate it in the new cabinet
*
So here is the craft area before the cabinet…
and after the cabinet…SO MUCH BETTER…no more plastic…wooty! hoo!
I am in love with the spinning spice rack I found at the thrift store for $1.99 it is perfect for organizing the little bits and bobs
*
And this fun cracker jar was only $.75 and is really big…another great addition to my desk
I found this fun PINK lacquer old looking scale for $6.00 I probably shouldn’t have gotten it but seriously it is AMAZING!
These are the holders from a game of scrabble I have put on the wall to hold the matchboxes I trade and make…they work perfectly for what I needed and I’ve found two old games of scrabble for $2.00 at thrift stores recently so I can use the tiles in my crafting and the holders for this!
These bird plates are amazing I got four of them (four different birds) and it is like they were meant for our house…
I found two of these super cute owl tote bags for $.50 each they are adorable!
we got some other miscellaneous things… I got some pretty nice birthday presents for a couple of people for just over a dollar each and those are safely in the gift bin…
*
Lastly, I got this mirror art for Christmas from my Aunt and hadn’t taken time to put it on until recently…It was kind of hard because I took the wrong side of the paper off so I had to place each letter and swirl on separately…so it was a little touch and go for a while whether or not it would turn out…but in the end a steady and and some patience birthed success!
It is on a mirror that I love. I got it at a yardsale for $3.00 a couple of years ago and fell in love with the color and shape…it is really heavy and was the first thing I’d ever hung up with anchors…the two places I’ve lived with it, it has never fallen…and I’m kinda proud of that :)
hope you enjoyed this little picture journey!

Weak…
Yesterday I finished my 2nd prescription of steroids...and today I am feeling the effects...a few days ago, I forgot to take a dose of the medicine and had a really scary time of not being able to stand and feeling really weak like I was going to faint...once I took the missed dosage I felt better and was OK for the next couple of days...Last night I took the last pill and today found me feeling weak, sore, and my neck feeling HUGE, hard, and tight (which doesn't help breathing and swallowing)...sleeping today was sporadic, and I was ever aware of not feeling well...
*
I've never felt this weak before, this evening, I had to get out in the middle of my shower because I couldn't stand up...
*
I feel like there is something really wrong, and as much as I am ready for surgery on Tuesday, I am not ready to find out what it is...
*
I'm scared...
*
I came to work tonight and am not sure that was the best choice but it isn't like my job is one you can just NOT show up for...there are men here who can't take care of themselves and if the person coming in the shift after me called an hour before they were to come in and said they weren't I'd be really upset...no one wants to work a 36 hour shift...and missing a day is missing a day of pay and a half on the job I just got 28hrs cut from...there is no good choice....the women I work with are super supportive and I know that they will step up if I decide that I can't work tomorrow night.
*
I’ve not had a family doctor for the past year (I’ve gone to a place for prescriptions but never liked the nurse practitioner I always saw) so I have an appointment Monday morning to establish a family doctor…for the normal needs and also in hopes to help advocate or help me understand what may happen in the next few weeks. My ear nose and throat doctor does not have a good bedside manner and has not left me understanding what could be happening and he certainly hasn’t seemed to care about the tole this is taking on me physically. I’ve been told some things about him that confirm the way I’ve felt about him…but what do I care as long as he is good, right?
Marriage Wisedom
Folks in the old days and hundreds of years before didn’t divorce. It was not an option. I mean in rare cases yes, but usually for Christians it was not an option. The Christians were to have more patience and love, and were to prove it in their marriage. I knew a woman named Beth. She was a believer and divorced her husband because she didn’t love him anymore.
Then she remarries a so called Christian man. Well he was dynamic for a while. They had Bible studies in their home each week, but it wasn’t too long before he began to show his true self. And then his wife showed her true self. He divorced her and he died. She went on to another husband, and now has Alzheimer’s and forgot the whole deal.
As a new Christian mother I watched that fiasco unravel. Their lives spoke volumes to me, and allot louder than the Bible study they had, I mean what are we here for? It’s to be a testimony? We are to show the world by our good works, our Father in Heaven? Does God shun the unbeliever? No He tries to help them. You mean when we make a mistake God divorces us? NO He loves us back into the fold. We as Christians are to be known by our love.
We are to be flames of living love, never ending love, always turning the other cheek, dying with the words of compassion "Lord forgive them for they know not what they do". So much confusion comes on us as Christians because we don’t understand God’s love, or what He expects out of us. We get so confused because we don’t understand Gods love or that we are to be examples of His love. All this tough love stuff I guess is ok, but I have never seen it work. How can we know another man’s soul? I think only God would have the ability to use tough love. And I don’t think He ever did, but who am I to say?

Making Your Bed!
Dear Friends,
I have a few questions for you.
When you walk past your bedroom do you avert your eyes so you can't see the mess?
Do you keep the door closed because you don't want anyone else to see your CHAOS?
Do you have problems getting your children to clean their room?
Does the feel of this room make you smile or cringe?
Are you tired of tripping over things in the middle of the night?
Do you have a bedspread you love?
Well I can't imagine ever sleeping in a messy room again. This room should be the cleanest room in your home, not your dumping ground for your Stash and Dash way of cleaning.
It wasn't until I found a quilt that I loved for a bedspread, that our room became a sanctuary. At that point, I started making my bed every morning. The "made bed", became my SHINY SINK of our bedroom. From there, the order started to spread around the room. If you will try this, you will see the difference in the atmosphere of your bedroom.
Once your room is clean and peaceful; then you have the right to tell your children to clean their rooms. If you don't practice what you preach, you don't have credibility and are not a good example for your babies.
I have said it many times! Your bedroom should be the cleanest room in the house! I mean it too. Start getting rid of the clutter that you have piled against the wall, on the dresser and night stands.
Also I am not telling you to go out and buy a brand new bedspread. For now use what you have, you will still feel the change in your room if you just make your bed and toss some throw pillows on it. If you don't like your bedspread, then you are going to be less inclined to make your bed. Keep searching for a spread that makes you smile. Use some of that money you are saving from making out your weekly shopping list and menus Tell your family you have one picked out at the department store that you would love for a gift. Do you even know what you like? Look in catalogs to find out what your style is. This could be a fun way to window shop. Save your pennies. I found mine on sale; It was a king sized quilt and it just fit my Queen sized bed as a spread. I only paid $30.00.
It makes me happy every time I walk into our room. In fact it was the best $30.00 I ever spent and it took me 6 months to find it. So start yourself bedspread fund if you are not happy with your room. I want you to practice making your bed every morning when you get up and before you leave your room. Just the straightened covers will make your room feel wonderful. Don't tell me that you can't afford to even look at one, I have done a lot of window shopping in my life. If you want something bad enough, you will find a way to save your pennies and get it.
Anything is possible when you set a goal. I want you to FLY and keep in mind that you are worth something and deserve to have a bedroom that makes your heart sing!
Are you ready to Finally Love Your Bedroom?
