I *heart* CVS, Walgreens, and K-mart

I am excited to share my great deals from K-mart double coupons, CVS extra care bucks, and Walgreens register rewards.

Regular price this would cost 186.99

P8301344

I used 145.12 in coupons

P8301346

and 8.56 was tax

P8301345

after all the math we paid 23.58 cash out of pocket.

not pictured were the four sunday papers I bought, that was 8 dollars that I paid with 8 dollars of extra care bucks.

what I have left is 3 dollars of walgreens register rewards and 20 dollars cvs extra care bucks left for next week. so really didn't pay much of anything huh? even better!

The dog food pictured above alone would have been 44.97.

I would say we

S

SC

SCO

SCOR

SCORE

SCORED

SCORED!

I gotta say I don’t know WHO would have paid 186.99 for this stuff…probably why all things are on sale once every four to six weeks.

A project finished

A couple of weeks ago Walgreens had a week of fantastic photo deals and freebies. One such freebie was an 11x14 picture. Being a lover of all most things free, I took the free picture offer and ran with it.

After a lot of searching I found a program that made amazing collages using pictures from our putting the roof up.

collage2

Yesterday, I was finally able to take the time and make a collage of the collage.

P8291335

Turned out good yeah? I used a thrift store frame, some scrapbook paper and one of the old and one of the new shingles slapped on with some hot glue. Three bucks is not too bad! (the pictures a big smudgy, I was having a hard time not getting the flash to show in the glass)

This picture ended up a perfect collage within a collage addition to our collage of house plans, material orders, and pictures. (please disregard that they seem to be off, apparently I need to straighten them :)

Just makes me laugh

This just makes me laugh. It is found in the front of Methodist hymnals.

John Wesley when asked

How shall we guard against formality in singing?

Answer

  1. By choosing such hymns as are proper for the congregation.
  2. By not singing too much at once; seldom more than five or six verses.
  3. By suiting the time to the words.
  4. By often stopping short, and asking the people, “Now!, do you know what you said last? Did you speak no more than you felt?"
  5. Do not suffer the people to sing too slow. This naturally tends to formality, and is brought in by those who have either very strong or very weak voices.
  6. In every large society let them learn to sing; and let them always learn our tunes first.
  7. Let the women constantly sing their parts alone. Let no man sing with them, unless he understands the notes and sings the bass as it is composed in the tunebook.
  8. Introduce no new tune till they are perfect in the old.
  9. Recommend our tune-book; and if you cannot sing yourself, choose a person or two at each place to pitch the tune for you.
  10. Exhort every person in the congregation to sing, not one in ten only.
  11. Sing no hymns of your own composing.
  12. If a preacher be present, let him alone give out the words.
  13. When the singers would teach a tune to the congregation, they must sing only the tenor.

22 Questions

So…this one does not quite fit into the FUN qualification for the week, but they are my rules and I will break them if I wanna!

John Wesley’s Holy Club Questions. These are 22 questions the members of John Wesley’s Holy Club asked themselves every day in their private devotions over 200 years ago.

blushingface-1

  1. Am I consciously or unconsciously creating the impression that I am better than I really am? In other words, am I a hypocrite?
  2. Am I honest in all my acts and words, or do I exaggerate?
  3. Do I confidentially pass on to another what was told to me in confidence?
  4. Can I be trusted?
  5. Am I a slave to dress, friends, work, or habits?
  6. Am I self-conscious, self-pitying, or self-justifying?
  7. Did the Bible live in me today?
  8. Do I give it time to speak to me everyday?
  9. Am I enjoying prayer?
  10. When did I last speak to someone else about my faith?
  11. Do I pray about the money I spend?
  12. Do I get to bed on time and get up on time?
  13. Do I disobey God in anything?
  14. Do I insist upon doing something about which my conscience is uneasy?
  15. Am I defeated in any part of my life?
  16. Am I jealous, impure, critical, irritable, touchy, or distrustful?
  17. How do I spend my spare time?
  18. Am I proud?
  19. Do I thank God that I am not as other people, especially as the Pharisees who despised the publican?
  20. Is there anyone whom I fear, dislike, disown, criticize, hold a resentment toward or disregard? If so, what am I doing about it?
  21. Do I grumble or complain constantly?
  22. Is Christ real to me?

Do you shower with your toothbrush?

Made you look! Did my title make you think twice?

I am feeling silly and random so I am going to make this a week of silly and random posts.

toothbrush2

I brush my teeth in the shower. Most people I confess this to are visibly surprised. However, there are a few who are ‘closet’ shower toothbrushers…those few that understand.

Where do YOU brush your teeth?

Look…at the birds of the air

I am happy. A word that is not always a part of my vocabulary. This week God and I had a moment. One of those moments where he says “Seriously April…THAT is NOT the way I raised you”. After the sting of being ‘caught’ in my selfish and impatient ways, I responded; “Your right…that was COMPLETLY out of line.” Since then I feel free, free from hiding my bad attitude, free to say I was in a bad place, free to encourage others.

As of late I have begun a love of birds. Birds? You say? Yep…this indoor girl is gaining a love of nature. Who woulda thunk it? This week I have claimed a ‘life verse’ for myself. A verse that when whispered calms my soul, a verse that puts perspective on the most disconcerting of circumstances.

THIS VERSE:  j0438911

Matthew 6:26

Yep, I made a graphic for it. I also had them printed from Walgreens on 4x6 sheets because Walgreens was having a lot of deals this week that included getting free pictures!

How does this verse make you feel?

Do you have a ‘life verse’.

I think people read this blog but don’t always comment. Please dialogue with me. Let us be an encouragement to each other.

Oh yeah and on Friday I got this letter.

scan0001

Well I thought this would be bigger and easier to read. So…FYI it says I didn’t get the job, and you know what…I’m O.K. I’m and ready to try again. Two months ago I wasn’t ready to try at all…”Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming.”

Did you miss me?

It has been weeks and weeks since I have posted. I have been on vacation, then a week of work, and this week I have been unable to get on a regular sleep schedule and have been fighting a cold/flu.

So I present to you…my vacation in pictures!

P8091238

my least favorite view…even in driving I have control issues and hate being behind people. I especially hate being behind semi trucks, it really makes me anxious, maybe claustrophobic or something?

P8030947

funny view across the street from a gas station in northern rural Indiana

P8040953P8040956

meet Lovice (my former officemate) and her daughter DeDe. She also as a son and husband but I did not get a picture of them.

P8081236P8081237

This is the finished product of her living room, (she would not allow me to post the before pictures, believe me it was a MESS. I stayed with them Monday night and then again on Saturday night. Her homework was to go through the pile we made on Monday and Tuesday so that we could finish up on Saturday. It turned out GREAT. I really liked being able to give her the gift of organization. We could only do one room. She desperately tried to get me to stay to finish the rest of her house but I told her that her kitchen needed a psychological evaluation.

P8040985

This is one of my favorite restaurants. My old officemates met me for lunch. It is a restaurant and a brewery.

P8050988

Me being silly (I actually really like this picture)

P8050991

This is my favorite meal at ‘the’ Brickstone, mini burgers and fries, way in the back you can see a fresh loaf of bread and some butter, I probably ate an entire loaf because it is AMAZING!

P8050993

Andrea and me

P8050995

me and Julie

Between Lovice’s and Jeri Ann’s I stayed with my old roommate Jana. I took some pictures but none the turned out well. It was nice to see her in her new house and to just catch up on life.

brand new Kangaroo shoes I got at a consignment store for 7 dollars…I love them! They have zippered pockets on the sides.

brand new Land’s End flip-flops I got at a yard sale for 2 dollars.

Kenzie playing in her pool. Trying to get her energy out I told her to ‘keep running, just keep running, keep running so I can take your picture” she did…just keep running!

Cole was just six weeks old so all he did was nurse and sleep. This is exactly what he looked like after every feeding. Instead of burping he would CRASH.

Happy Baby!

P8061106

Cole LOVES his sister already, when she is around he looks at her and smiles.

I painted Kenzie’s toes the color of my toes…it is a good thing that it was 60 second drying paint cause I am not sure how long I could have kept her there.

Chubbers!

This is Jason. He was the guy in WI who did my nails. I had let them go for almost four weeks and they were looking raggedy. He was HILARIOUS and really should be a stand up comedian. It was the best nail experience I’ve ever had, too bad he is 10 hours away.

IMAGE_377 IMAGE_374

Can you guess where I am?

Yep, Texas Roadhouse Baby!

I stopped there on my way home from WI for lunch. I sat and read my harry potter book, and downed their AMAZING yeast rolls. I could eat them EVERYDAY!

After a week of driving, living out of my suitcase, and sleeping on three beds I was ready to come home and sleep in my own bed. I worked the day after coming back so it took me about a week to really recoup physically. Mentally this trip filled my cup that had been thirsty for awhile. I am blessed.

The following photo album is candid pictures that Kenzie took. Thought you might like to see the work through a 3 1/2 year olds eyes.
